Welcome to the Hub!

sponsored by West Hoathly Parish Council.

The Hoathly Hub is the gateway to information about everything to do with living in the Parish of West Hoathly. It has developed rapidly over the last few months and continues to evolve. We love to hear from you, so please let us know what you think.

To access the current information, just click on any coloured circle (hot spot) to display an information panel, or click on a picture to visit another local website.

To stay informed you need to register with the Hub - we promise to take great care of your personal data. You will then be sent our weekly News Digest by email (unless you choose otherwise) and we will send an occasional email to let you know when urgent news has been added to the Hub (for example, unplanned road closures).

To be the first to know, you could also become a fan of
our Facebook page, subscribe to our RSS feed,
or follow us on Twitter!

  • West Hoathly School Are Going For Gold

In this the Olympic year the scene has been set for an Ancient Greek Odyssey. West Hoathly Primary School will host their sixth fundraising ball on June 23rd.
Over the past ten years the small village school has raised an astounding £65,000. The funds raised at this event are earmarked to be spent on enhancing sports and physical education for its pupils.
Most of the money raised will be via silent and live auction on the night, this year we have the honour of having the Comedian Russ Williams as our compare and auctioneer. We would appeal to businesses in the area to sponsor this worthwhile community event and would like to thank Comber & Son Builders and Champain Financial Services for already pledging their support and for those who have kindly donated raffle and auction prizes.
For further information on purchasing tickets or for sponsorship opportunities please contact Michelle Taylor on 07547 767396.

  • Proposed Development in Hammingden Lane, Highbrook

The Planning Application for the construction of a new roadway to access Brook House Farm from Hammingden Lane (opposite Upper Sheriff Farmhouse) has been resubmitted.
Although some details have changed, in our opinion this development is still unnecessary and unsightly in the AONB and creates an additional traffic hazard in our narrow country lane.
Please read the full plans and voice your opinion by clicking on the link below (comments on the previous application are NOT carried forward).

Do you need a new Freeview TV receiver for the digital switchover? more...

  • Do you need a new Freeview TV receiver for the digital switchover?

We have bought a new Freeview HD receiver with built-in BBC iPlayer (needs broadband connection) plus modern "wideband" roof/loft aerial solely to show the Buckingham Palace Jubilee concert live (in the marquee on June 4th) after which they will be sold.
I highly recommend this receiver as it has HD and the iPlayer feature as a bonus. Best offer received by the Jubilee weekend will secure either item - proceeds to the Jubilee funds.
Happy to answer any questions. John Downe 01444-892065.
The receiver is an I-Can Easy HD and cost £35, the aerial has "48 elements", is fully assembled and cost £18. The receiver has SCART and HDMI connections for the TV output. I tested the Freeview High Definition channels this morning on the Rec.
If you pay above the cost price I will help you set it up at home (but I'm not climbing on your roof!).
