The Parish Council's (PC) annual budget determines the precept which is collected as part of our Council Tax bills divided according to each household's Council Tax "band". On average the parish's 800 households are each paying around £43 in the current year towards the Council's £36,500 precept. You can see the details of the current year's figures using the link below.

A significant part of the budget (which the PC constantly strives to minimise) pays for regular upkeep and maintenance of the public land and buildings such as North Lane recreation ground, Finche Field and the public toilets in West Hoathly. The PC also now maintains our traditional fingerpost road signs and the grit/salt bins for the winter. Insurance is always a sizeable annual expense and contributions are made to St Margaret's and All Saint's Parish Church Councils in support of their burial grounds.

Examples of possible additional demands in next year's budget include actions arising from a traffic and highways study the PC has commissioned, developing a "Neighbourhood Plan" to strengthen the Parish's voice on planning matters, supporting Parish-wide celebrations of the Queens Diamond Jubilee in June 2012 and the provision of additional facilities for our younger and older residents.

We are interested to hear your thoughts any areas where you think the PC should be doing more, or indeed less, in 2012-13. The Parish Council will give anything you raise due consideration as we go through the budget process and you are always welcome to attend, speak or ask questions at any of our meetings as listed on the PC website.
