Exciting Progress on Parish Council Projects!

CLOSED Parish Council Chairman's Blog

Author: John Downe

Published: Thursday, 17th April 2014

The annual Parish Assembly last Monday heard the announcement of several significant developments in our parish. Unfortunately not many parishioners were there at this public meeting to hear all the news, so I thought I would use this Blog to draw them to your attention. The presentation used at the Assembly is available using the link below.

  • In its role as the trustee of West Hoathly Village Hall, the Parish Council has commenced a series of major renovations with a new, modern and well-equipped kitchen which is being installed during the Easter break. This will be followed in the summer by a completely new and redesigned heating system. Several further major phases of works are planned over the next 2 years. All this is paid for from Hall reserves or grants NOT your Council Tax.
  • The Council also described its initiative to change the look of the C319 road to help encourage better driver behaviour; this will complement highways improvements such as the redesign of the Vinols Cross junction planned for next year (see the event at the school on 26th April on this)
  • For our younger residents and with the help of the Council's Youth Forum the exciting new additional playground equipment we hope to install on North Lane Rec was on display.
  • Finally, the Parish Neighbourhood Plan project is reaching a key point over the next few weeks with the culmination of the Task Force's work on identifying the most suitable sites for new homes to be built.

As well as pursuing these major projects, your Council continues to manage diligently the parish's assets including North Lane Rec and Finche Field.

There is a Councillor vacancy on the Council at the moment and we could really do with another "pair of hands" to keep all these activities moving forward!

If you have any questions about any of these topics or the Parish Assembly please let me know below and I will do my best to answer them. Alternatively, you can contact the Parish Clerk, Helen Schofield, using the contact details on the Council's website.

NB West Hoathly Parish Council's decisions and other minutes of the Parish Council which are recorded in the Clerk's minutes of the statutory meetings of the Council are the complete and formal record. This article is intended to give an informal narrative for residents of what has been happening in your Parish Council.
