Welcome to the Hub!

sponsored by West Hoathly Parish Council.

The Hoathly Hub is the gateway to information about everything to do with living in the Parish of West Hoathly. It has developed rapidly over the last few months and continues to evolve. We love to hear from you, so please let us know what you think.

To access the current information, just click on any coloured circle (hot spot) to display an information panel, or click on a picture to visit another local website.

To stay informed you need to register with the Hub - we promise to take great care of your personal data. You will then be sent our weekly News Digest by email (unless you choose otherwise) and we will send an occasional email to let you know when urgent news has been added to the Hub (for example, unplanned road closures).

To be the first to know, you could also become a fan of
our Facebook page, subscribe to our RSS feed,
or follow us on Twitter!

He is now on his 4th run and doing a splendid job.
If anyone knows who it is or who organised this then please thank him on our behalf.

  • Wanted: Cooker for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts

To help Beavers, Cubs and Scouts with their cooking skills and Cookery Badges we would really like to have some cooking facilities in the Scout Hut. If anyone is buying a new cooker, would they consider donating their existing one to Scouts?
This would also enable us to run some fundraising events in the Scout Hut where we can provide hot food as well as cakes and puddings.

  • Hever Castle Private Guided Tour followed by lunch at Gravetye

    on: Thu 1st Mar 2012 at 9:30am

at: Hever Castle and Gravetye Manor

This romantic double-moated 13th century castle was the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Queen Elizabeth I. It was also the home of one of the richest men in America of his time, William Waldorf Astor, who is largely responsible for the castle and grounds we see today. It’s splendid panelled rooms contain fine furniture, tapestries, antiques and an important collection of Tudor portraits. Join us for a fascinating private tour, including areas not normally open to the public, and find out more about the incredible history of this historic house and the secrets it holds.
Gathering at Gravetye at 9.30am for 9.45am departure to Hever by coach and returning at 12.30pm for a 1.00pm lunch.
£75.00 per head, tour, coach transport and three courses inclusive.

  • WSCC Broadband Campaign

West Sussex County Council have just launched a survey aimed at helping them prioritise the investments in broadband improvements across the county. It is a very simple and quick survey - just follow the link.
Responses to the Broadband Speak Out have been very helpful in raising the profile of this area but now it is important to respond to the WSCC survey to make sure our local telephone exchanges are upgraded as soon as possible. There is real money out there for the upgrades so let's try to make sure it comes our way!
If you know someone who needs to complete a printed form perhaps you could print one for them.
The Broadband Speak Out Topic is now closed for new comments but if you have any questions re the local Broadband service please use the Hub Club Speak Out Q & A Forum.

  • A 20-year Plan for our Neighbourhood - get involved!

Thanks to the Localism Act of 2011, we can now have a statutory role in the decisions on planning and development affecting our area.
Your Parish Council is seeking volunteers to help produce the necessary Neighbourhood Plan as we believe that it would be highly beneficial to our community and its future.
Anyone with an interest in how we maintain a vibrant community in the Parish and some time to participate would be very welcome, and if you have relevant knowledge of development or planning, landscape management or other associated topics your contribution could be particularly useful.
Our Neighbourhood Plan will need to cover the local infrastructure, employment, community facilities, landscape and housing so as to create a vision and "road map" for a community which can sustain itself through at least the next 20 years.
If you would like to find out more, do come along to our open information session on Feb 8th, or you can contact John Downe (01444-892065).

    Steaming into East Grinstead more...

  • Steaming into East Grinstead

As part of our 50th Anniversary Appeal we are going to finish clearing Imberhorne Cutting and connect our pioneer steam heritage railway with the national network via our own platform at East Grinstead station.
But we need your help to get the diggers digging again!
Visit our website or click here to watch a video produced by the Bluebell Railway explaining what is happening with the extension into East Grinstead and what is required to make it happen.
Currently we are removing waste at a cost of around £25 per tonne. However from April 2012 our tax exemption will expire meaning that this cost will increase to around £94!
Click here for various ways that you can donate, be it via the Justgiving web page, Tenner for the tip Certificates or putting your spare change into collection boxes at the railway, it all helps us to reach our goal of steaming into East Grinstead.
